When you’re a new driver, parents can become worried about your safety.
Here are 10 simple steps to follow that will help to keep you safe
when you are driving, or in a car with a new driver.
| 1 |
| Confirm destination in advance. |
| 2 |
Drive only during the following times
of day
.................am to .................pm (agreed with parents).
|
3 |
| Only give a lift to 2 or 3 passengers. |
4 |
| Never drink alcohol or take drugs and drive.
|
5 |
| Never accept a lift from a driver who has
drunk alcohol or taken drugs. Always find alternative transport
such as a taxi or a bus. |
6 |
| Always wear a seatbelt and ensure that passengers
do the same. |
7 |
| Obey all traffic laws, including speed limits
and parking restrictions. |
8 |
| Never use a mobile phone while
driving, only when parked. |
9 |
| Avoid distractions whilst driving –
like fiddling with the CD player, smoking, eating and drinking. |
10 |
| Telephone you if your going
to be later than expected, and never speed to be on time! |
